The groom, Merven’s morning began at the Grace Hotel in Sydney. With the windows wide open and music filling the air, we filmed, photographed and chatted to Merven as he prepared for his big day.

Every groom has their own dress style but one thing we love is when they let little parts of their personality shine through. For Merven that was through his red G-Shock watch, bracelets and awesome retro socks.

Simultaneously the bride, Becky and her bridesmaids Junyi and Cara were happily chatting and getting ready at The Astral Tower and Residences at The Star Sydney; also the location of the upcoming chinese tea ceremony.

The usual ritual with makeup, hairpins, hairspray and laughter proceeded as everything swiftly came together until the time came for Merven to make his entrance at the Astral Tower.

Accompanied by his groomsmen Trent and Kelly, Merven was met by Junyi and Cara and subjected to some truly entertaining tea ceremony games to prove his mettle before he could meet his bride.

The main game had Becky remain in her room with a set of long ribbons running to Merven on the other side of the door. The goal? Merven had to select the one ribbon that his bride was holding and if he chose incorrectly then the bridesmaids would issue a challenge before he could try again.

Needless to say after doing a set of push ups while being quizzed about Becky, placing lipstick on his groomsmen while blindfolded (followed by some well placed kisses on Merven himself), the final challenge allowed the groom to finally enter the bride’s room.

But before being free he had to locate Becky’s shoes via red pocket bribing and clues from the bridesmaids.

After the fun and games (and a quick makeup wipe for the groom) the tea ceremony was carried out beautifully, more photos were taken and we were all off to the church for the ceremony.

St. Mary’s Cathedral North Sydney proved to be a beautiful location for an intimate ceremony that still allowed for some dramatic exterior shots.

With the vows said, group pictures taken, everyone was packed off to Milson’s Point for a location shoot perfectly coinciding with a breathtaking sunset. Of course the Sydney Harbour Bridge and Luna Park Sydney entrance were a must this time.

The reception was held at Dockside Cockle Bay Wharf a fantastic wedding venue where the couple surprised everyone with the luck of a lion dance and magician Neo from Korea leaving everyone absolutely gobsmacked with his tricks. Especially that floating table, seriously Neo how did you do it? We can keep a secret.
Finally with full bellies and danced out feet the bride and groom bid farewell by exiting via a guard of honour carried out by all their guests with nothing but smiles and laughs accompanying them out.
It was an amazing night for all involved and our cheeks certainly got a work out with all the smiling. We wish Merven and Becky all the best for their future, may it be filled with even more happiness and laughter.
